New Tour: Piedmonte Italy Wine Tasting and Exploration Piedmont, Italy is relatively small and tucked away. Hidden in the rolling hills and vineyards that compose the stunning landscape are quaint towns and villages focused on the pursuit of making the best wine in the world. I know it sounds like a fantasy, but Piedmont is real! Not more than 75 miles from the sea, the climate here is unique. Warm days and cool nights combine to create the perfect micro climates for production of some of the world’s best vintages. Names like Barolo, Dolcetto, Barbaresco and the royal Nebbiolo grape made this area famous!
Tour Highlights:- 3 to 4 Daily wine tastings at local vineyards including stops at Marquese de Barolo, Gaja, Alessandrio Silva and Elio Altare to name drop a few. Explore the markets, restaurants and shops of La Mora, Barolo, Asti and many other villages along the way - 3 Hour Cooking Class with Wine Tasting - 6 days – 7 nights Try these generous wines and delicious local cuisine while enjoying an optional daily walk or hike while on this discovery of Piedmont. Many Italians consider Piedmont a gastronomic paradise. Local meals are as simple as Pizza or Spaghetti Bolognas growing in complexity to Seared Rabbit or Linguine with clams in white wine. Piedmont is a delight for your taste buds. For fun, try your hand at creating an authentic Northern Italian meal during a 3 hour cooking class ending the evening with a group wine tasting. Join one of the optional daily hikes or walks around town, pass thru vineyards and orchards and see the area as locals do, amongst the vines and with the sun shining on you. Sounds like a good afternoon to me, I’ll bring the wine! Early evening is a great time to get out for a walk with the temperature dropping down a few degrees and with Dinner a little ways off, what better way to wrap up the day.
Piedmont has provided me with many inspiring experiences. During a recent visit, I was fortunate enough to spend some time with Elio Altare. Listening to him speak about his philosophy and passion for wine making, Elio’s energy filled the room. Intense and focused best describe the man whom lives for his family and vines, seemingly, breathing life into each of them daily. If his schedule allows, we will visit Elio and his awesome family at their vineyard during our tour. This is a once in a lifetime chance and not to be missed if you are into Italian wines. So, now that you have heard about Piedmont from my eyes, you be the judge, and join us as we explore, discover, meet and visit with some of the legends of The Piedmont Region! This year we will also be return to The Dolomites, The Alps and Provence for our hiking, biking and multi sport tours. In the next few weeks you will be receiving more information about these active vacations. I look forward to seeing you on a tour! John |
