Our Guides
One of the most important things to consider when choosing an adventure travel company is the knowledge, skills and personalities of their guides.

We pride ourselves on the guides that we work with. Our guides are passionate about the places we visit. Many of them have spent years exploring the regions that they work in and love to share their wealth of knowledge with you.

It is truly a unique experience to tour with someone who is inspired to be there and knows the history, culture, ecology and lay of the land.

John Sarbo - Founder
John established Beyond Limits out of his love for adventure travel and his desire to share these unique and exciting parts of the world with those who seek them. His unyielding dedication to providing quality customer service and to be the best in the industry is the driving force behind Beyond Limits' dedication to its family of clients.

John has traveled through Europe, North and South America, Iceland and the Middle East. His trekking and climbing adventures have led him to the Alps, Andes, Cascades, Rockies and the Himalayas, to name a few. He loves telling personal tales of revolution and anarchy while in Pakistan and Ecuador, to sharing local history with his guests. John now lives in Salt Lake City and enjoys climbing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, mountain biking and hiking in the nearby Wasatch and Uinta Mountains.

Kathryn Czarnecki
Kathryn loves new adventures and seeing the world through young people's eyes. "The outdoors enable children to fully explore and express themselves," she says. When guiding Beyond Limits' Kids Mountain Base Camps, Kathryn makes sure to mix the outdoors with creative fun.

Currently Kathryn is an art educator and the Fine Arts Department Chair at a K-12 campus in Utah. When she is not teaching, Kathryn plays outside as much as possible. Hiking, cross country skiing, snow boarding and snow shoeing are a few things that keep her busy. Kathryn also races on the Great Salt Lake. Check out the cover of the October, 2002 issue of Sailing World magazine to see the boat she sails on and the crew.

Sean Hopewell
When Sean is not on the mountain guiding or climbing, he spends his spare time commanding the ranks of Davis County Sheriff's Search and Rescue as Mountain Team Leader.

Sean's love of athletics and the outdoors began as a child, but his love of the mountains bloomed when he started racing bicycles on the NORBA circuit. After injury ended Sean's cycling career, he moved to Oregon and became a "rock jock.." His love of rock climbing and backcountry travel has taken him throughout the U.S., Canada, Central and South America, Europe, and Africa. He now spends every waking moment rock and ice climbing, mountaineering, canyoneering, backcountry snowboarding, and backpacking. Above all, he loves sharing his passion for the outdoors with others.
